WASH BEFORE WEARING

Dear Medical Personal & First Responders,
We are grateful beyond measure for your service during this pivotal time. We want you to know that we are working hard for you and appreciate you, working hard for us. In response to learning about the shortage of masks for medical providers in our local hospitals, we’ve created a grassroots, citizen-lead “Denver Mask Task Force” to sew & deliver masks for your use.

Masks have been pre-washed to prevent shrinkage & are designed to stand up to industrial washing + autoclave sterilization.

PLEASE WASH BEFORE WEARING at your facility for the safety of your team. We cannot ensure they were not contaminated during transport.

Home Sterilizing Instructions:
Oly-fun filter material should not be soaked long term in water. You can wash gently and air dry. The preferred method to sterilize them is to put them inside a freezer-weight Ziploc and drop them in a pot of boiling water for 15+ minutes. Instapot instructs to place items in silicone/metal steamer, on steam function with 750ml water. Newer models have dedicated sanitize button.
Heat Sterilization: The WHO recommends heating to greater than 212°F for 2 min.

Autoclave Sterilization: The melting point for our polypropylene filter is 320°F. Standard operating temperature for Heat Autoclaves is 250°F. We recommend masks be double bagged, freestanding on stainless tray with minimal water added. If your mask includes elastic straps, they may not withstand autoclave sterilization.

DISCLAIMER: This face mask is not meant to replace the surgical face mask, it is a contingency plan for those who have no avail to surgical mask in the market. Proper use of a surgical mask is still the best way to prevent virus infection.

Sincerely,

Amanda Glenn & 750+ Volunteers
